Ashley Russell, PhD (arusse36@jhmi.eduobtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Penn State Behrend. She then earned her PhD in Neuroscience from West Virginia University where she studied the role of extracellular vesicles (EV) in the progression of neuroinflammation, specifically within the context of Alzheimer’s disease and stroke. She joined the Witwer lab in February 2019 and is currently working on a project aimed at understanding how cigarette smoke affects EVs and extracellular RNAs derived from several CNS cell types.
