EV biology, diagnostics, engineering, and therapeutics
Ysa Hernandez

Ysa Hernandez (yhernan9@jhu.edu) is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Ysa completed an internship at CNIO Spain, the National Center for Cancer Research in Madrid. Ysa joined Dr. Witwer’s lab in June of 2024. Her research project explores how specific corona proteins – albumin, immunoglobins (IgG), and apolipoproteins (ApoA1, ApoB) – affect the phagocytosis of EVs by macrophages. The aim is to investigate the mechanisms behind EV-mediated immune responses to help develop EV-based therapeutic strategies for diseases.
